News > Year 9 Residential

The Year 9s had a fantastic time on their Residential recently in the Lake District. The group stayed at The Lake District Calvert Trust, a residential outdoor centre on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The weather was fine, albeit rather breezy, and everyone without exception, threw themselves into the adventure.

The programme of activities took full advantage of the amazing Lake District landscape. Water activities included sailing Catamarans on Lake Windermere, Canoeing and just generally getting wet for fun(!), whilst the land based activities involved everyone having a go at rock climbing and hill walking in the beautiful rugged landscape. Students were also able to test their balance and agility skills on an assault course. Charlie took some convincing that the only person who could be wobbling the rope that he was standing on was him!

The group even took to the air, with what everyone said was their favourite activity of the week, the zip wire. With the wind in their hair thrill seekers Jack, Corey, DJ, Charlie, Martha, Toby and Sonali whizzed effortlessly through the treetops.

The evenings were spent having fun back at the centre, and folks even had enough energy left for breaking out some cool moves at the disco!
