Kitsons Pharmacy supporting NCW

Posted 5th February 2017 | Category: New Partners

Worcester pharmacy, Kitsons on Broad Street, has pledged its support to New College Worcester, the school for blind and visually impaired young people, to the tune of £550.

Head girl Sarah and Head Boy Matthew, along with Sarah’s guide dog Babs, recently accompanied NCW Fundraising Manager Kevin Hateley to Kitsons to take receipt of the donation and to meet the staff. The pharmacy, which has recently been taken over by Mr Amo Sohal, has also become the College’s preferred supplier of prescription medicines.

Kevin Hateley, Fundraising Manager said “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Kitsons and we really look forward to working more closely with them. It’s been great for Sarah and Matthew to come and meet all the staff, and have a chat about the day to day work that a busy pharmacy involves”

The donation has been used for the College’s art department to purchase a camera for the use of students wishing to pursue photography courses.

Droitwich Lions Support NCW

Posted 3rd February 2017 | Category: Donations

Representatives from the Droitwich Lions, Dave Sherwen and Phil Wallis, visited New College Worcester this week to present a cheque for £500. The Lions are men and women from all walks of life who join this worldwide organisation made up of local clubs whose motto is “We Serve”. Through the club’s fundraising activities the Droitwich Lions have been able to help many individuals and groups locally to improve the quality of their lives, in addition to supporting international causes.

The Droitwich branch of the club have been loyal supporters of New College Worcester (NCW) for many years, and over that time their donations have been much appreciated. New College Worcester is a residential school and college for young people who are blind or visually impaired and as a registered charity, the donations from organisations such as the Lions make all the difference to the lives of the young people who study and live at NCW.

NCW Students Tom and Chelsea were on hand to meet the visitors and take receipt of the cheque. Fundraising Manager for NCW Kevin Hateley said “We have a long wish list of items we need for the students around the College and this donation will be put towards something on that list. We are very grateful to the Droitwich Lions for their support – and that of the people who in turn have supported the fundraising efforts of the Lions."

Our very grateful thanks go to all at Simply Mobile, for hosting a fabulous Celebrity Golf Day to raise funds for NCW. Some NCW students popped along in the morning to meet some of the players and a wonderful day of golf was followed by a very sociable evening.
