News > Festivities at NCW

With Christmas very quickly looming around the corner, we have been getting in to the festive spirit here at New College Worcester!

This year, we have entered the Christmas Tree Festival at Worcester Cathedral, which runs from 8 December – 3 January. We are one of many schools as well as local businesses and charities that will provide and decorate 95 glittering Christmas trees which line the medieval cloister, creating a magical display – we are very excited to be involved!

In preparation, students and staff have been getting crafty during lunch times and have made a number of sparkly decorations to hang on our NCW tree!

Once again, we made the annual visit to the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre which boasted streets of stalls full of festive treats, arts, crafts and gifts. It was a wonderful atmosphere and a jolly time was had by all!

This week, we also continued a fairly new tradition at New College – the annual Christmas light switch on and competition!

Students, staff, friends and family gathered for nibbles, festive drinks, carols, entertainment and lots of twinkling lights and Grottos – all prepared and organised by students, house and hostel staff.

Thank you for providing a fantastic evening. The bar has certainly been raised this year!

After lots of deliberation and judging, Bradnack was named Christmas light champions of 2018 – well done to you all!
