TeenStar is a nationally recognised singing competition for young singers across the UK. Over 8,000 competitors perform in front of a prestigious judging panel including record producers, Radio DJ’s and former pop stars. Former winners include X Factor contestants such as Luke Friend and Lucy Spraggan who have gone on to sign with major record labels.

Sixth Form student, Chessie successfully auditioned at the Reading Regional Finals in April and has now gone through to the area final in May with the hope of going onto the Grand Final at the NEC in Birmingham in July.

Chessie told us, “It’s always been my dream to be singer and I thought the TeenStar competition was the perfect way to get some experience of singing in front of a live audience. The atmosphere was amazing and I had so much support from my family and friends at NCW.”

Chessie is currently studying A-Level Music at NCW and has specialised in Piano and vocal performance with weekly singing lessons as part of her timetable. Her performance of Katy B’s ‘Crying for No Reason’ can be found on the NCW YouTube Channel. Good luck Chessie!
