News > Worcester Wolves!

On Friday evening a group of NCW students were taken to see their first Worcester Wolves Basketball game. The trip was brought about by Mrs Kings who is a huge fan! After the BBL cup final on Sunday there was much anticipation over this game. Leicester Riders are a great team having played 17 matches with only 2 defeats this season and being top of the league table, and after Sunday’s defeat Worcester Wolves needed the supporters to rally and get behind them.

Basketball is an incredibly fun and fast paced game made up of four quarters of ten minutes in each quarter and with only 24 seconds for each team to score when they have the ball.

After explaining the general rules to all we were ready for the game to begin. The fast pace made for an exciting commentary and our students soon got sucked into the excitement. Our students were fantastic! Not only with their behaviour but also with their enthusiasm. They chanted “Defence!” and “Worcester!” with the best of them as well as stamping and making howls when Leicester were given free-throws. Rahel, Chelsea and Asher were amongst the noisiest! The game was extremely close throughout and although Worcester Wolves played well a win wasn’t meant to be, we sadly lost in the last quarter 76 -81.

At the end of the game we were very fortunate to be asked to go onto the court, meet the players and have our photo taken with them. A great evening was had by all and I hope we’ll get another chance before the end of the season in April.
