Setting high academic standards

At NCW, we provide an excellent curriculum with special attention being paid to Braille and Information & Communication Technology (ICT).

Class sizes tend to be small. So students receive a great deal of individual attention. As a result, many do well in their studies for the first time, exceeding their own and their parents' expectations.

Most of our students will take eight or nine GCSE courses with many achieving excellent grades, typically results are significantly above national averages. Value added data demonstrates the very strong progress that students make: NCW is always in the top 5% of all schools nationally when these figures are published.

At AS and A2 level we offer a choice of over 24 subjects, but students who wish to study outside of this extensive curriculum can usually be accommodated by special arrangement. In addition, we can offer courses that are part of the Award Scheme Development & Accreditation Network (ASDAN), which gives students the opportunity to develop their personal qualities, abilities and achievements outside the classroom.

"NCW is a delightful and highly effective school which transforms the lives and future prospects of the students who attend." Ofsted, October 2005
