The NCW Goalball team were victorious at the Novice Goalball Tournament in Birmingham this weekend. Playing against six teams from across the UK, they won every single match! The victory was sealed by Year 11 student David who scored the winning goal at the last minute against Breacon, to very loud cheering from the NCW supporters. Well done team NCW!

Jane Darley, a precious metal clay jeweller, visited the College to work with the AS Art Group. She talked to them about her work and demonstrated how to create delicate silver pieces using simple moulds. The students used polymer clays to recreate Jane’s examples, as precious metals work can be rather expensive for experimental pieces! The girls were taught how to make silicon moulds, and how to combine different shapes and textures to create creative jewellery pieces.

Multi-instrumentalist Baluji Shrivastav who has played with Stevie Wonder, Chris Martin and Shakira to name a few, brings together incredible blind musicians from around the world, for another popular tour of the Inner Vision Orchestra. Their uplifting music moves between songs from Iran, Afghanistan, India, Japan and Nigeria with soulful Gospel and Blues to sublime Indian Ragas and Western Classical compositions. Driven by the intensity of an inner vision they celebrate the power of music to transform lives.

With rucksacks packed and walking boots, on a team of students from NCW and Kings School Worcester, started their preparations for the Iceland Expedition on the slopes Mount Snowdon.

During the first weekend of the new term a group of 19 students took part in the Year 12 Induction Weekend. Designed to give students an opportunity to get to know each other and bond as a group, the weekend included a range of team building activities.

As part of an activities week, all NCW students took part in activities focused around commemorating the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. Departments across the school explored a variety of aspects of the war and its legacy; students used war poetry as an inspiration to compose music and wrote letters to the Unknown Soldier, as well as making a clay trench system and poppy wreaths.
