Developing Independence in VI Students
Do you have a visually impaired student in your school? Would you like advice on practical ways you can support them? This one day workshop will discuss ways in which students can be supported to work independently in schools and will also offer the choice of two practical sessions from the following:
What is Access Technology? An introduction to access technology and how it can be used by VI students to access the curriculum
Mobility & Sighted Guide Techniques How to guide a student in a respectful, safe and instructive way.
Teaching Practical Skills- Food Technology How to teach a student basic tasks in the kitchen and tips on how to teach food technology safely.

The workshop is held at the College in Worcester and runs from 1000am to 3:30pm. For directions and a map click here.
Who Should Attend:Teachers, teaching assistants and professionals working with young people. Parents of visually impaired students may also find it useful.
Cost: £80.00 per delegate
This event is being run by NCW on behalf of the SSAT (Specialist Schools and Academies Trust). All fees are set by and payable to the SSAT.
