Help With Funding
Where to get funding
If you are applying for a place in yrs 7-11 then you will need to seek funding from your local authority. If you are applying for a 6th Form place then you need to seek funding from either the Local Authority (LA) or the Learning Skills Council (LSC). If you are applying from Wales, you will need to contact the Welsh Assembly Government.
Who to approach
- For Local Authority funding - Sensory Impairment Team
- For Learning Skills Council - Local Connexions Advisor
The Process
- You will need to arrange a one day visit to the college
- Applicants are then invited for a four-day residential assessment, which gives a taste of academic and social life at the college.
- If we think we can meet the needs of a prospective student, we will make a provisional offer and send a full report to your Local Authority and/or Connexions team to support your funding application. (An offer of a place will always be subject to funding.)
- Once an offer is made and accepted by parents, parents will need to pursue funding through LA/LSC. Parents will need to familiarise themselves with their LA funding process for applying for 'out of county funding' as these differ from county to county.
- Authorities may or may not agree funding and decisions are based on individual cases. If funding is refused the LA should advise you on how to appeal the decision.
